The Otaki Cup round this week was played at Boulcott Farm against Miramar.  I must say the course was looking fantastic with fast firm greens and Matt Spraggs cutting some tricky pins making for a great day of golf.

The morning foursomes had us leading 3/2 – Sam Govind and Nick Changarnier played solid golf to win 2up. Dan “The Man” Dexter provided the shot of the day hitting a 4 iron to 10 feet on the Par 3 8th (our 18th) to give him and Grant Watkins a 1 up win,. Ben Slaven and Jordan Loof provided our third win being 3 under par when they won their match 5/4.

The singles was a real battle with the match in the balance until the last putt dropped on the 18th.  This gave us a singles win by 5.5 to 4.5 winning the overall match by 8.5 to 6.5.

Our middle order really stood up this week providing the backbone to our win. Our our two Irish brothers Jack & Robbie Pierse played well in the windy conditions and both won 5/4.  Dan Dexter finished off a solid day with a great birdie on the 17th to win 2/1. Grant Watkins is again proving the man to beat as he racked up another great performance winning 3/2.  Jordan Loof, now back in Wellington, playing his first game of the season played awesome golf in winning his match 4/3. Jono Cane saved his best putt to the last whole, needing a 15 foot putt to half his match he just drilled it right in the middle to gain a vital half point.

The points after 3 rounds have us in 3rd place. We play Shandon at Judgeford this coming Saturday and will be looking for a strong performance to move into 2nd place. It was nice to see Graeme Kershaw supporting us on Saturday.
